The Council of Registered Professional Engineers (CRPE) is presently inviting Registered Professional Engineers who wish to be included on the list of AssessorsObservers and Trainers respectively, to assist the CRPE in:

  • Carrying out interviews for Stage I (Eligibility) registration
  • Carrying out interviews for Stage II (Professional Competence) registration
  • Assessing reports submitted by candidates for Stage II registration
  • Acting as observers during interviews for Stage I and Stage II registration
  • Acting as trainers for the training of Assessors, Observers and Trainee Engineers

Important Notice for Previous Applicants and Current Assessors

Those who have previously applied or are on the present list of Assessors are also required to fill in the attached form and submit again for the purpose of updating the CRPE’s database.

This will ensure that the CRPE has current, accurate, and complete information on all available Assessors, Observers and Trainers.


Request for Early Submission

It would be appreciated if the filled-in form could be submitted within a week’s time for early processing of an updated list of Assessors, Observers and Trainers, so that a training programme can be devised for the near future.

Your timely response will enable the CRPE to:

  • Finalise the updated list of Assessors, Observers and Trainers
  • Plan and schedule training sessions promptly
  • Ensure that training, including collaboration with foreign partners, can be delivered efficiently
  • Strengthen the capacity and readiness of assessment panels for upcoming interviews

Conditions and Important Information

  1. Application Period: This call for submissions will remain open in time – applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. However, early submission within one week is encouraged for timely processing.
  2. Encouraged Across All Disciplines: Applications are encouraged across all engineering disciplines. The CRPE expects to have Assessors, Observers and Trainers of diverse backgrounds.
  3. Apply for One or More Roles: Registered Professional Engineers may postulate for Assessor, Observer, Trainer, or any combination thereof.
  4. Training and International Collaboration: The CRPE will strive to have training carried out as soon as possible for those who have been retained. All retained applicants are encouraged to attend training sessions that the Council may organise for specific assignments.

In line with CRPE’s commitment to international best practices and alignment with the Washington Accord (WA) , training will soon be delivered, including by foreign collaborators, to further strengthen the capacity and competence of our assessment panels.

  1. Remuneration: An appropriate fee will be paid by the CRPE on completion of assignment.
  2. Application Process: Applicants are required to download and fill in the attached Word file below. Fill in all required fields and return same to the CRPE by return email.
  3. File Naming Convention: The returned Word file should be renamed thus:
    CRPEapplication_Firstname_Lastname.docx
    (e.g., CRPEapplication_John_Doe.docx)
  4. Multiple Applications: In case of application for more than one assignment, applicants are required to replicate all the information for each assignment on separate rows. An example is provided in the Word file attached.
  5. No Guarantee of Assignment: The CRPE will try to retain all applicants in its list for future assignments; however, the CRPE does not guarantee that the applicant will be called subsequently for any assignment.
  6. Assessor Assessment: In the case of Assessors, they will, in turn, be subject to an assessment by the Observer when carrying out interviews.
  7. Council Members and Registrar: Council Members and the Registrar of the Council may also apply but may not be given any assignment during their mandate on the Council.
  8. Foreign Nationals: Foreign Nationals registered with CRPE and on the current roll are also invited to apply.
  9. If You Did Not Receive the Email: The application, with all relevant details, has been e-mailed to all eligible Engineers. Those who have not received the e-mail are kindly requested to contact the Administrative Secretary by email on admin@crpemauritius.com as soon as possible.

Alignment with Washington Accord (WA)

As part of CRPE’s commitment to international standards, our assessment processes for both Stage I and Stage II are being aligned with the 12 graduate attributes of the Washington Accord. This ensures that:

  • Assessments are robust, transparent, and internationally benchmarked
  • Assessors, Observers and Trainers are trained to apply consistent standards
  • Mauritian engineers are assessed against globally recognised criteria

Training for retained Assessors, Observers and Trainers will soon be delivered, including collaborative training sessions with foreign partners, to further strengthen the capacity and competence of our assessment panels.
